Holiday Adopt-a-Family

To help make sure the Holiday season is bright for all families, the Norwell Food Pantry organizes the Adopt-a-Family program each year to match sponsors with families in need. Recipient parents give the Food Pantry a “wish list” of clothing and toys for each child. The food pantry matches up sponsors with children, (sponsors may choose to adopt one or all the children in a family) and the sponsors bring the toys and clothes to the food pantry.

The program begins in November each year, and gifts are delivered to Town Hall mid-December.

Food Pantry and Closet

The Norwell Food Pantry is devoted to supplementing the nutritional needs of families at risk for hunger. Families that are struggling to make ends meet can come once a week. They are able to “shop” according to personal preferences for staples (flour, sugar, rice, pasta, cereals), canned fruit & vegetables, meats, soups and basic toiletries. Based on residency and supplies.

The Closet is filled with gently used clothes and small household items. Based on residency and supplies.

For assistance, contact your School Guidance Counselor, Nurse, Clergy, Norwell Police Department or the Council on Aging. Or you can reach out to us directly by calling 781.690.5050, or sending a message with our contact form.

To receive assistance you will need proof of Norwell residency: a valid ID plus a recent correspondence showing a Norwell address.

Kids-in-Need

Kids-in-Need is a year-round program for any child in Norwell whose family may be having difficulty providing some necessities – sneakers, a jacket, a dental visit, etc. There are times when families may need help with more than food, and the Kids-in-Need program tries to fill in those gaps.

Holiday Giving

The time has come this year for the Norwell Food Pantry to do their annual Christmas Adopt A Family Program. Last year we were able to give presents to over 250 people, we were able to do this because of the generosity of you, our Norwell community.

If you are interested in helping out this year, please email us at norwellfp@aol.com , let us know how many people you would like to adopt or if you would like a full family. Please specify the size of the family you would like to adopt. Small Family is around 3 people, medium family is around 5 people, large family is 6 people or more. We appreciate all the help we can get and don’t want to burden anyone with more than they want or can handle. The wish lists for recipients will start to be turned in November 21, and we will do our best to match people up and get the emails out as quick as we can.

If you have not received your assignment by the end of November, please email or call.
For those of you who might not be interested in adopting but would still like to contribute we can always use gift cards, these are some of the locations that are requested the most, Target, Wal-Mart, Gas Card, Shaws, Stop& Shop, Hanover Mall etc.

All gifts need to be wrapped and labeled and dropped off at the Food Pantry at Town Hall on December 13, between 9:30-3:30. You can contact the Adopt a Family program at norwellfp@aol.com or by calling 781-690-5050.
